How to check if your vacuum pump air filters need cleaning?

Firstly, alway consult the manual before taking any steps to maintain and repair your Elmo Rietschle equipment. You must ensure the machine is safe before starting.

Regular maintenance work must be carried out in order to ensure safety.

Maintenance intervals also depend on the specific application demands on the machine.

Observe the safety instructions described in "Safety instructions for installation, commissioning
and maintenance" found in the operating instruction which can be found via our product page.
Performance of the machine is reduced by a polluted air filter and insufficient maintenance.
This can cause damage to the machine.

  1. Regularly clean the mesh filter
  2. Replace highly polluted or damaged mesh filters.

In applications with high levels of contaminants in inlet medium, the mesh filter (Fig. 4/f1) has to be cleaned more often. The inlet filter is cleaned by washing or blowing off the debris. If it cannot be cleaned effectively it must be replaced. Check for build of debris and matter that could block or damage the pumps air filters and reduce equipment performance.

How to check if your rotary vane vacuum pump oil needs replacing or topping up?

Always consult the manual before taking any steps to maintain and repair your Elmo Rietschle equipment. You must ensure the machine is safe before starting.

Risk of injury due to slipping and falling!
The floor can be slippery due to leaked oil and cause slipping, tripping or falling:

  • For oil change wear non-slip shoes
  • ¾ Remove leaked oil immediately.

Always change the oil when the machine is at operating temperature and in a
ventilated area. If it is not completely emptied, the refilling quantity is reduced.

If you change the type of oil, empty the oil tank completely.

A minimum oil quantity may escape from the vent screw due to pressure compensation.
If larger quantities of oil escape, wash the internal filter of the vent screw.

The waste oil must be disposed of in compliance with the local environmental protection regulations.

Check the oil level:
a) Check the oil level in the sight glass (Fig. 7/I) at least once daily.
b) To refill the oil, consult the maintenance manual for the machine or contact your local Elmo Rietschle Service Team.
